The Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement as a Creative Teacher and Scholar recognizes exceptional accomplishments of faculty members for their outstanding contributions to teaching and scholarship. The award was established to acknowledge the extraordinary creative teaching and high-quality research that occurs within the university's academic disciplines. The winner receives $25,000 from the Office of the Chancellor. Each nominee receives $2,500 from their college. The award recipient is named annually.

Criteria:

  • Nominee must be a current (January-December) full-time tenured faculty member with a minimum of seven years of service at TCU.
  • Nominee must hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Nominee cannot have been a nominee for the three previous years.
  • Nominee cannot have been a previous winner of this award. 
  • Nominee must be an employee in good standing at Texas Christian University.
  • Members of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Provost’s Council, and Office of the Chancellor are ineligible.

Nomination Process:

  • The Provost’s Office manages the nomination process. The process begins when the Provost’s Office submits a Call for Nominations to all academic deans (Fall). After the deans submit nominations to the Provost’s Office (Spring), the deans convene to discuss and vote on the top three (Summer). Next, the Provost’s Office provides the Chancellor with documentation for all nominees, designating the deans’ top three recommendations. Finally, the Chancellor reviews all nominees and selects the winner.
  • Colleges and schools follow internal guidelines for the nomination process. A nominee from each college or school is not required.
  • One nominee each is allowed from:
    • Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine
    • Bob Schieffer College of Communication
    • Brite Divinity School
    • College of Education
    • College of Fine Arts
    • College of Science & Engineering
    • Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences
    • John V. Roach Honors College
    • Neeley School of Business
  • Two nominees are allowed from:
    • AddRan College for Liberal Arts: one from Humanities and one from Social Sciences.
  • Required documentation for nominees: Letter of Nomination, Nominee’s Statement, Brief Bio, Vita, Letters of Support, Headshot.
